"A NICE TOWN"          "TODAY'S TOWN WITH YESTERDAY'S TOUCH"

The village of Marsh's Bog appeared long before the Revolutionary War, and it extended much further than the boundaries of current Farmingdale.

The Lenni Lenape traveled these paths from inland to the ocean and back for hundreds of years.                         One of those paths became the main street through Farmingdale.

After the Monmouth Patent, the Patentees were required to bring families to settle on the land they possessed. Homes like these began to appear. 1 1/2-story homes constructed with mortise and tenon joints, held in place with pegs, created walls then lined them with cement blocks. Often the family members would make the bricks from clay pressed in wooden frames.
